Read the Room
Play what the floor needs, not a fixed setlist. The room tells you where the night goes.
OTEO is Alec Pontes, an Orlando DJ, producer, curator and founder of Fish Out of Water Records. He plays open house format, and Orlando Weekly nominated him Best Club DJ.
Born in Brazil and brought to Florida at age one, OTEO's first instrument was his grandfather's guitar in Timóteo, Minas Gerais — summers spent learning what music feels like long before he ever stood behind a booth. That inheritance runs through every set: house threaded with Latin, Afro, Brazilian, and tribal texture, paced for the room rather than the genre.
He started open-format in Orlando and grew into house through live mash-ups at The H — the move from wide range to precision you can hear in the depth of his sets. Today he plays what he calls open house format: house at the core, the surface whatever the night asks for. He reads the floor fluently in English and Portuguese, and has shared bills with Alok, Cat Dealers, Bhaskar, KVSH, Victor Lou, Liu, and Mr Pauer.

Open easy, build all night, and land the peak when the room is ready for it.
House and tech-house that never lets the energy drop. The low end does the talking.
OTEO is the founder of Fish Out of Water Records — original house and tech-house productions and releases. The label puts out his own records and those of artists he plays alongside.
